Configuring Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Microsoft recommends disabling Shared Memory protocol on SQL Server 2005 as this will degrade the performance when both BizTalk and SQL Server are running in parallel. Follow the below mentioned steps to disable the Shared Memory protocol.

Follow the below mentioned steps to configure SQL Server 2005:

1. Click Start | All Programs | Microsoft SQL Server 2005 | Configuration Tools | SQL Server Configuration Manager.

2. In SQL Server Configuration Manger expand the SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration node and then click on the protocols node to bring up all the available protocol information in the right panel as shown in the below snippet.

3. Right click Shared Memory Protocol and select the status as Disabled.

4. Close the SQL Server Configuration Manger and recycle the MSSQLSERVER service.
